Whakatane

Today was a lovely morning. We got up early (for us - 06:30) and flew down to Whakatane for the day to see Neil and Sue. We had promised to take some fence pigtails and a bit of tape down so that was all the excuse we needed.

This is the view we had as we flew down the harbour. Lovely morning mist with a beautiful but trying sun-strike.

This is Mt Edgecome.. the mist and haze cleared up once we crossed the Kaimai ranges leaving an unbelievable clear sky with unlimited visibility.

We went for a drive out to an area called Coastlands.. it has a stunning view up the beach and the eastern shoreline.. this photo doesn't really do it justice.

We stopped in at the fishing club for lunch. It was great sitting on the deck by the harbour with the lovely sea air. There was a Tuna fishing competition on with $10K prizes.  We saw one boat come in with a few yellow tail Kingfish but we didn't see any Tuna.

Vicki didn't have a recent picture of her with her Dad so we took this when he dropped us off to come home.

The trip home was as nice as the trip down. This is Auckland harbour as we flew up the Eastern beaches.  All in all a fun day.. fun flying, awesome scenery, good company and too much good food.
