New paddock for the boys

As I promised Garbo at the beginning of the week - it hadn't rained all week so today I put them in the middle paddock which has been resting (and growing all through winter thanks to all the rain and high soil temperatures) since July 11.

I am very conscious of managing the small amount of land we have so that it does not get too pogged or over-grazed. The middle paddock actually looks pretty good considering the amount of water it's had. I am really pleased with my winter management. (Our neighbour has only mud and overgrazed brown grass and a horse that nickers at her everytime it sees her because it has no hay - and they have 5 acres!) Feel like chucking it a bale of hay!

So they had a lovely day eating grass. I brought them in at 4.30pm and they have been very quiet and sleepy since then, neither of them ate all their dinner either.

Nice to see them get some sunshine and grass not underwater for a change.

Yesterday George finished putting the wind shelter up round the Mandarins, I only got home in time to help with the last one as I had forgotten about a meeting in town with the US Consulate. Made it though. It wasn't truly exciting or anything.
