Storm report

Well it's mostly over, the wind has turned south west and still a bit of rain but I managed to do the yards this morning at 7am without getting too drenched. The horses were amazing - the yards are so cool, really sheltered them alot and they stayed so calm.

The picnic table is dead!

This 'puddle' was slowly creeping up to the opening of the lid to the water tank. Could just imagine dirty stormy water flowing in - mind you it could also be overflow! I imagine tank is chocca!

The poor magnolia tree took a bit of a hiding - we need to re-stake it in the next couple of days. It's still standing this morning.

See the lake in the distance - that's what I woke up to - it's a farm! No lake there normally.

Looking up towards Parakai you can see more flooding too.

Overall I think we survived very well. I went to bed at 8.30pm because I was knackered and stuck the covers over my head and didn't wake up till 1.40am when one of the yard doors was rattling so I went out and stuck a new wedge in the gate.

This picture sums up the view I got this AM - you can see flooding all along SH 16 to Helensville.

It's raining steadily again now - but not much wind. Hope it stops soon but another low coming Tuesday/Wed - then THAT'S IT OK!!!!
