Frosty Frosty

Boy it was a frost and a half this morning. The hose was iced up!

The neighbours lawn was white - our paddocks were not too bad, they must get some shelter from the house. In front of the yards was the same just a few patches.

But the orchard and up the front of the barn was really white.

I let the boys up by the driveway and did the yards, then decided to make them a warm breakfast.

Maraschino was a bit cold I think (I didn't put their covers on last night since there was no risk of rain), so that warmed them up nicely. Soaked sugar beet flakes and hay cubes with some crushed linseed and chaff. They loved it.

Maraschino and Coco swapped buckets briefly - it looked so funny...

Julie gave us some Feijoa trees which is cool- just need to figure out where to plant them now.

wow that looked really freezing. Did you keep any fruit on the mandarin trees or did you decide to let them have another year without fruit. What happens to them when you have a huge frost like that.
I have added your blog to my side bar so you will probably get some more visitors.

Hi Jean
Funnily enough it wasn't that cold.. maybe I was just busy... lovely being up so early on such a lovely day.
We took off some fruit and left some - I don't think they are liking the frosts much! The pittos have grown heaps I was looking at the photos of when we planted these a year ago and the pittosporums were teeny in comparison. Thing the wind sheet helped too.
