Damn sushi

Standing in our bedroom.

Hmmmm - well after a storm on Thursday night - and rain most of Thursday, it cleared up round our place on Friday although the rest of Auckland were still getting heavy showers. No builders, no roofers, no painters - I guess they thought it was going to be shit today as well. Quite often the rain goes right round our place. Anyway - we had about 30mm last night and the place wasn't too bad on Friday - considering.

So - Friday night we think lets go and get sushi after George has made some framing for the front door step of the barn... he spent ages getting it right and digging out they gravel now that it was nice and wet. And he put some sand in it. I was picking up poos and looking after the horses, who both have a runny nose, and it was 27 degrees... so sticky!

We had a shower and went out to get sushi. On the way home (takeaways so we were only away an hour), we saw all the drains on the side of the road completely full. Got home to find there had been a really heavy downpour - 32mm!!!!

George had placed two bits of wood in the framed area, and two outside of it for us to stand on temporarily - well the two little ones were now inside the framing and the two bigger ones had floated round sideways.

You can see the silt over the paving stones even.

The sand from the drive had completely buried out hose.

The trough overflowed (as did the already full tank).

Very bizarre. But it wasn't raining when we got home.

Ok - now this is Pauatahanui (paint colour - from the colours of NZ range)
