Oh - more of the drive to our block...... it's so nice....
Well - we spent the balance of December and January (bearing in mind NZ closes for close to three weeks over this period) trying to organise the septic system and the design of the barn - and started on the house design as well.We finalised the barn, and worked hard to get Econobuilt to get the consent application ready by the end of January - I think it ended up going in early Feb so we expect consent March 7.
The barn will have three 8x4 yards, 4x4 covered and 4x4 uncovered so they can move around more than traditionally sized stables. We will live in the barn (temporary dwelling) while we build the house. We have one year to complete building according to the covenants.
We had a bit of a drama with the placement of the barn and a long few weeks waiting for the farmer - Stanley Phillips to approve the position of it. The neighbours had decided it may cut out some of their view, and we had to have a meeting with them and move it back three metres. Then - after ALL that Stanley shows us this peg 40m from the gate - to the North East Strainer post and tells us that is the official building area - the barn just fits - so we got him to sign the approval on the spot (on his quad bike). BIG PHEW. We had a celebratory drink at Hallertau on the way home after that.
Found a cool guy to mow the block and lime it and then apply some agrisea (seaweed) but that's all we can really do for now. The old owner mowed the weeds last week but because they were so high we have about 2ft of mulch now!! Need some rain!
Here's the 'bomb hit it' look now....

Organised a company called Ross Tanks to build a concrete water tank in the ground (it will be 100% buried when they have finished) - we decided on a 5000 gallon one. That was $5200 - yikes!
What else - well we need to find a plumber, an electrician, and a digger man to level the site.
We move on April 18 so the barn will be finished by then (positive visualisation!).
