It was such a lovely day yesterday - the house was so hot I had to open the ranch-sliders. Lats night it was 6 degrees - you would never have known though in here.

The rain has flooded a few paddocks across the highway as you can see.

The grass is all green again now - doesn't take much to come back.

You know how nice it is when you change the bed sheets and then get into bed that night. Well every year I completely clean out the yards, digging out all the old peelings (much of which have rotted at one end at at the hay end are just all mouldy and dusty), and refilling with new post peelings. The picture above is BEFORE....
I have 15 cubic metres of post peelings delivered on Thursday morning - knowing that Saturday was due to be fine (after 24 hours and 57mm of rain on Thursday night/Friday. It's pretty reasonable - $270 and one load fills the yards up and last for top ups for a year.

All dug out...

I started digging out Garbo's yard at 9.30am on Saturday and finished Coco's at 4.30pm. I stopped briefly for a coffee and two pieces of toast at lunch, and drunk to Tanka's full of water...

It was such an amazing blue sky - you know those ones you get in winter...

The paddocks are looking good - the grass could be a bit thicker, but all in all I am happy.

I piled up the orchard with the barrow fulls of mulch and I'll spread those out next day it's sunny.

The citrus are looking great at the moment.

I got 1.5 cubic metres of sand delivered a couple of weeks ago - and put along the front of the yards - it's working really well at keeping the mud away.

All dug out - phew...

Sunday after a mammoth 9.5 hours sleep George was home so he helped me fill up the yards with new post peelings - he loaded (alternating wheelbarrows) while I barrowed about 8 cubic metres of peelings back into the yards. Then we raked them flat (ish) and we were all done my 1.30pm and we drove into Shaky Isles for lunch as a reward.

When we got back I picked up the poos, cleaned the water buckets, refilled them and put them in the yards, filled up the haynets and hung them back up in each yard, swept out the feed room, fed the boys and now I am a bit knackered.

The boys were quick to check out the new sheets, and now they are tucked up in bed ready for the rain due tonight - although we have only had 0.4mm so far - alot has scooted round us.
